Regional Disease Managment Update The NSRHN HIE team has been working with seven participating clinics to install CDEMS Chronic Disease Electronic Management System. During the month of August, NSRHN will be collecting reports on diabetes clinical measures from eight sites participating in the AQIC project (Accelerating Quality Improvement through Collaboration), and uploading data to the California Primary Care Association online reporting system.
We applaud Eileen Silva from Scott Valley Rural Health Clinic and Joyce Beeman from Surprise Valley Hospital for manually abstracting and entering their DM patient data in CDEMS to improve quality of care.
Next CDEMS User Support Group: August 27, 2008, 11:00-1:00 Take advantage of this national forum to ask questions and network with CDEMS trainers and end users. For information and to register for email alerts contact Linda Kehoe at: lkehoe@nshrn.org.

e-Prescribing Program Update We want to congratulate Hill Country Community Clinic, Plumas District Hospital, Mountain Valleys Health Centers, and McCloud Healthcare Clinic who are actively using Allscripts ePrescribe to send electronic prescriptions to their partner pharmacies. The HIE Team is beginning to see increased activity in the number of electronic prescriptions submitted by each provider. Susan Morris, LVN from Mountain Valleys Health Centers says, “[ePrescribe] makes prescribing quick & easy…Dr. Watson is doing well with the program.”
The HIE team recently visited the newly opened Fairchild Medical Clinic and provided training to Terry McClean, LVN and Pediatrician Jack Haling, MD. In the photo at left Terry is receiving instruction from members of the HIE Team, Kent Waldsmith and Linda Kehoe. Dr. Haling and Terry are anxious to begin using ePrescribe for future prescriptions.
If your practice is interested in using ePrescribe to send electronic prescriptions, contact Linda Kehoe: lkehoe@nsrhn.org.
